The following resources support implementation of acupuncture and acupressure in hospital settings. Each aligns with one or more phases of the HAIF framework.

Phase Checklists

Implementation Phase Checklists

One checklist per phase, summarising key tasks, decision points, and outputs.

Clinical Tools

Intervention Comparison Card

One-page reference card comparing all six modalities (manual acupressure, electroacupressure, auricular acupuncture, body acupuncture, electroacupuncture, wristbands) by effectiveness, cost, training requirements, and practical considerations. Suitable for lamination and display in clinical areas.

Clinical Decision Aid

Step-by-step decision guide for selecting and implementing acupuncture or acupressure interventions. Covers patient risk assessment, modality selection, timing, and delivery personnel.

Patient Education Sheet

Patient-facing information explaining acupressure for post-operative symptom management, including what to expect, how to find the PC6 point, wristband instructions, and common questions.

Assessment Tools

CARI Readiness Assessment

Modified Checklist to Assess Readiness for Implementation (CARI), adapted from Barwick (2011). Evaluates system readiness, senior leadership support, staff capability, implementation plan maturity, and training requirements. Scoring: 100 points total; readiness threshold is 80+ points with a minimum 15 points per category.

Data Collection Templates

PONV Data Extraction Template

Template for extracting PONV incidence data, rescue antiemetic usage, and risk factor prevalence from hospital records. Designed for the Exploration phase baseline audit.

Staff Survey Template

Survey instrument for assessing staff attitudes, knowledge, and willingness to participate in acupuncture/acupressure implementation. Based on validated instruments used in Australian and US hospital surveys.
